Nature Walks

First Monday

Monday 10:30

Leader: Marlene Prangnell
The Leader started this group in September 2023 with the aim of allowing time to observe nature, share our knowledge, take photos and admire the view. The walks are more of a stroll, usually around 2 miles, and details of terrain are given in advance for those who find hills or stiles difficult.
To date we have visited the Jubilee Wood near Caen Locks; Oakfrith Woods, Urchfont; Langford Lakes near Salisbury; Castlefields, Calne; Belvedere Wood, Devizes; Salisbury Plain near Tilshead; Jones’s Mill, Pewsey; Lower Moor Farm, Cricklade; West Woods, Marlborough; hidden Rowde and Morgan’s Hill.
There have been many highlights and we are planning return visits to some favourite places. We have enjoyed exploring unfamiliar areas as well as taking time to watch and listen in places we thought we knew!
We meet on the first Monday, different locations, each with a particular nature-focussed habitat eg chalk downland, woodland, wetland. Members are sent a programme by email and those with a particular interest can lead some of the walks (including a night time bat outing!)
Thanks to everyone for their participation…The Leader is so grateful for the enthusiasm and knowledge which the members bring to the group.
