With Spring upon us, the Rusty Racquets tennis group is switching from indoor to outdoor play from Monday 5th May, which is also a bank holiday.
Players meet at Hillworth Park, Devizes, for an 11am start on Mondays. Please bring your own racquets, although we have a couple of spares for emergencies.
There is no charge for the court, but it cannot be reserved in advance. We try to arrive around 10.45 so we are ready to start promptly at 11am, when the previous players finish on court. We have a WhatsApp group so we can check on the weather situation that morning.
Parking is free, but rather limited, but is compensated by a lovely café for refreshments afterwards and sparkling toilets!
The “rusty racquets” group is for u3a members who enjoyed playing tennis in their youth, but who may be a tad rusty.
In the winter, we play short indoor tennis at Devizes Leisure Centre, also on Mondays, with a £2 charge for a one hour session starting at 4pm. Racquets and balls provided. There’s plenty of free parking but vending machine refreshments only. Your first taster session is free of charge.
